about
Red Spring is the collaborative project from Randy McStine (Lo-Fi Resistance) and Michael Wu. The duo set out to record a full-length album, but with busy individual schedules McStine suggested they just pick a few songs to start with.
The result is "Inside," a three song EP of melodic pop/rock. Originally written for a full electric band production, McStine and Wu instead decided to re-arrange the songs for a warmer, acoustic approach.
"Hollow Tree" introduces the duo with a harmonious slice of sunny pop/folk. The title track follows with a slightly darker take on things. Sounding something like early REM meets Neil Young, "Inside" is propelled by tight guitars, deep grooves, and soaring vocals. The EP closes with "Through The Glass," a stark and powerful solo performance by McStine.
