Another song from Wu with the same re-write approach I took for "Inside." This one has a lot more of his original composition, but still radically different. The vocal is incredibly raw, but it might be my favorite vocal take I've done to this point...-RM
I believe the first tune I sent to Randy was an instrumental version of Through the Glass. I provided some basic ideas of what the title meant to me and what I always wanted the song to say. Again, what was returned really hit home and has extreme emotional depth. Although there is no rhythm section tracked on the tune, I very much feel a part of it. It still gives me chills. I hope other listeners will have the same reaction, and enjoy it as much as I do.-MW
lyrics
red lights
flash outside
my window
no surprise
they will be back
tomorrow
sometimes i cry
sometimes i occupy the silence with laughter
take care love
it's been so nice with you
and i will continue
to look through the glass
until it passes by
day into night
year after year
it rises
with no explanation
and no sympathy
and many compromises
sometimes i think
sometime i drink until my face is smiling uncontrollable
when we can feel
when it is real
when we can heal
i'll walk out the door and i'll run up to you
i'll say all the things that i wanted to before
you're not here anymore
take care love
it's been so nice with you
and i will continue
to look through the glass
until i pass by
look through the glass
maybe next time i'll belong

I find a new favorite with every playthrough of Idle! Currently it's "Real." In fact, I'm kind of in love with the whole block of tracks (13-18). Hoping for more acoustic stuff in the future!! Carley Jean
